Transfer News/ Updates: 6 August – “Luiz Suarez same planet as Gareth Bale” – Brendan Rodgers

This makes everyone laugh (almost, with the exception of some Liverpool fans whom are still blinded by Suarez ‘extraordinary world class abilities’ on the field). If the sum of £100 million is being mentioned for the transfer of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid, then Luiz Suarez, according to Liverpool should be worth £100 million! Now we all wonder what they are smoking up there at Anfield?..
Direct comparison is not necessary, in fact any comparison would not be necessary. Just ask football fans, supporters of any clubs in the premier league and everybody can tell at least a few stories about Bale and Suarez. Suarez might even get higher ratings due to his extraordinary antics – the racist rows, the diving and the biting, follows by the bans. Bale meanwhile has none of those unpleasant headlines and rightly justify his individual awards with on-field performance as well as helping his team to finish higher up in the league. So when Real Madrid comes and does their usual ‘poaching’ of premier league talents (using their usual tactics of ‘record-breaking’ bids to tempt the club and probably ‘unsettle’ the player), they came for Gareth Bale – not Luiz Suarez, end of story.

Does anyone thinks that Real Madrid, say for example, if they fail to lure Gareth Bale to Bernabeau this season would likely turn their attention to Luiz Suarez, would be willing to shell out in excess of £85 to £100 million for Suarez? Here is the player weighed down with controversies, a player sulking about media treatment. Would La Liga able to turn this ‘bad boy’ into a ‘good man’ and would Spanish media back off this man with so much potential to sell footie stories?

Liverpool would be wise to take general consensus advice and cash in on the £40 million + 1 bid from Arsenal (the only bid so far). At least its cash (lots of it) generate from a player with such baggage, a player who might end up going to court to get away from Anfield, a player that needs public pleading from their captain to stay! Funny enough though with his extraordinary abilities there are no other clubs lining for his services, not even a declaration of interest.

Yeah, most of us still wander - £100 million for Luiz Suarez (because that is what Gareth Bale costs in the market now) - what are they smoking up there?
