Both
are new to their jobs with Manuel Pellegrini totally new to the Premier League
environment while David Moyes had eleven years of successful but trophy less stints
at Everton. Both are also stepping up big time with their career (although
Pellegrini has that forgettable unsuccessful stint at Real Madrid but it is at
Villareal and Malaga that Pellegrini gained his reputation). Both Malaga and
Everton are consider a different league to the Manchester clubs.
David Moyes steps in to replace the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson and this is a task of enormous requirement especially after being handpicked by his predecessor. Therefore Manchester United’s hierarchy has unanimously agreed that Moyes will be given enough time to prove his worth. How much is that is unsure but in the modern games one season without silverware for a club of United’s stature is bad and anything more than one season will see Moyes facing the sack.

Manuel
Pellegrini replaces Roberto Mancini, supposedly brought in as a ‘calm’ and
intelligent figure – to steady the ship, especially after the fiasco of Carlos
Tevez and Mario Balotelli last season. Pellegrini however has a totally
different expectation from his employer, compare too his counterpart. City is
not run like United, it is a club flush with money and with that comes instant
success expectation. As much as the claim that Pellegrini is brought in to steady
the ship’, he will be judge by the results on the pitch – sooner that he
probably would expect to be.
The
importance of a win is paramount for both managers. Aside from bragging rights
and 3 points this is the battle of the two new Manchester’s manager, both
needing to impress their fans and clubs’ hierarchy.
