Manchester United Vs West Bromwich Albion: The win must continue…

After the Manchester derby thrashing and the much needed win over Liverpool in the Capital One Cup, the headlines had been David Moyes – about how his performance as the manager of Manchester United has been so far. Critics are everywhere but there are sections of fans as well as former United players coming out in defense of Moyes. The game against Liverpool showed how Manchester United can and should play. Will David Moyes be tempted to be conservative and stick to the old school thinking of ‘never change the winning team’?, or will he goes back to his preferred (but with mix results) strategy – meaning that Ashley Young will be back in the starting XI! With Robin Van Persie doubtful, will Moyes decide to give Javier Hernandez the opportunity to start alongside Wayne Rooney again or will Shinji Kagawa be given his preferred No 10 roles behind Rooney. But expect to see Marouane Fellaini and Michael Carrick to resume their midfield partnership, as well as Rio Ferdinand-Nemanja Vidic partnership.

Whichever team Moyes pick also has Shakthar Donesk away next Wednesday in mind. United fans might see changes in centre half partnership (as per Ferguson style) but experience factor will be vital. While West Bromwich Albion is not exactly a top team they are not an easy team to play with either and the United team that will run out on Saturday cannot afford to take their opponent lightly but a win at Old Trafford should be a formality, given the fact that other title contenders have trickier fixture.

David Moyes knows himself that a job with such big expectation is not going to be easy – after what Sir Alex Ferguson did for Manchester United for the past 20 over years will not be replicate – ever - by any manager. Ferguson himself had reminded fans during his farewell speech to support their new manager and United board themselves gave Moyes a six year contract – highlighting the fact that time is need – and will be given. Credit should also be given to Moyes for accepting such challenge and he himself acknowledged the magnitude of the task ahead. Already Moyes sounded warning to United fans of more ‘disappointment to come’ as he charts his way to guide United to further success. The good thing about what happened in the season so far is that Moyes and his team will be able to learn from it and hopefully comes May next year United will still be at the top of the table.
