Welcome Marouane Fellaini (dude with funny hairdo)

Yes we like to take a dig at Marouane Fellaini’s hairstyle during his Everton’s days – but that is it and no more. Watching him over the years is enough to convince most football fans that this is a good player. World class, no, not yet. After all Fellaini has been playing at an average club. To achieve the holy grail of ‘world class’ one needs to be in a good team. Therefore the decision to join Manchester United is a right one. Here we take a brief look at who is this ‘funny hairdo dude.
Born Marouane Fellaini-Bakkioui on 22nd November 1987 in Brussels, Belgium of Moroccan parents, Fellaini started his football career playing for R.A.E.C. Mons, Royal Francs Borains and Charleroi S.C. before joining Standard Liege. In his early years Fellaini’s first love was running – in the 10,000 metres distances, hence that explained his well known stamina. At 17 years old, Fellaini signed his first permanent contract with Standard Liege and since made 84 appearance and scoring 11 goals. Before his move to Everton, there are interest, most notably from Manchester United, as well as Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Tottenham Hotspurs. He later signed for Everton for a club record fee of £15 million. Fellaini early years in Everton was characterized by discipline problems and he soon overcome this and went on to become one of the most influential players for Everton. David Moyes, then Everton manager utlilized Fellaini in a variety of roles, mostly in the attacking capacity but it is the holding midfield role in which Moyes foresee Fellaini to excel in. During the opening match of last season between United and Everton at Goodison Park, Sir Alex Ferguson deployed Phil Jones – specifically to nullify the threats pose by Fellaini. On the international stage, Fellaini was eligible to play for either Belgium or Morocco, in which he chooses Belgian. Fellaini went on to represent Belgian from the youth level and was in the team that lost to Brazil during the 2008 Beijing Olyimpics 3rd-4th place playoff. To date, Fellaini has accumulated 42 caps for Belgian on the senior level scoring a total of 7 goals.

Generally it is a positive feeling among most Manchester United’s fans in regards to the signing of Marouane Fellaini, with the criticism aimed at David Moyes and Ed Woodward. Compared to signing a marquee player where management of their ego is as important as managing the player himself, Fellaini came across a humble type of personality and could turn out to be popular in the dressing rooms as well as among fans. For all we know, that Afro hairdo may be seen everywhere in Manchester from now on – and Usain Bolt approves this guy!
