Capital One Cup – Manchester United Vs Norwich City: Let’s see the others!

On the back of that much talk about performance from Manchester United against Stoke City, the attention shift to the next fixture – Capital One home fixture against Norwich City. For once too since Sir Alex Ferguson’s reign, this might not be that one fixture where United fans will get to see more younger players – with the exception of Adnan Januzaj, or maybe Wilfred Zaha.David Moyes had repeatedly insisted that the Capital One Cup will be one trophy that he wants to win. Given the shaky start to the Premier League campaign so far it is not surprising as Moyes understands that at Manchester United winning trophies is the prerequisite to be the manager of this club. As such Capital One cup will represent one of the ‘lesser’ challenge of winning trophies for United. As such United fans hoping to see more youngsters in the lineup will probably be disappointed.

David Moyes will probably use this opportunity to allow squad members game time, players like Fabio da Silva, Alexander Buttner, Anderson, Ashley Young, Javier Hernandez and probably in the goal keeping department too. If veteran defender like Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic are fit they too might get game time too. The likes of Adnan Januzaj will be definitely to an automatic starter and there may even be some game time for the forgotten man – Darren Fletcher. One player Moyes must also consider in his lineup will be Wilfred Zaha – an outstanding prospect and the last of Sir Alex Ferguson’s signing. But Moyes will also be wary of not making too many wholesale changes as it will affect the momentum United gained from the hard fought win over Stoke City.

This will be the last of the four series of home game for Manchester United in October. A win will be expected even though Norwich City will no doubt be encouraged by United’s stuttering form so far this season. This will also be the time where David Moyes further stamp his mark as United’s ‘Chosen One’ – with a convincing victory.
