Champions League – Real Sociedad 0 Manchester United 0: Dull!!!

Typical of Manchester United so far this season – inability to finish the game when the chances are there. Robin Van Persie misses a penalty and hit the crossbar, so did Antonio Valencia while the normally reliable Javier Hernandez miss an absolute sitter. Elseway Marouane Fellaini sees red in his first season in Champions League football and Ashley Young re-ignites his love for the dark art of football with his controversial penalty winner.
The Manchester United team out there tonight performed reasonably well with one exception – inability to finish, which turn out to be the downfall of the team. While a point for an away Champions League game is consider good enough, the gap between the quality of the two teams and the form of Real Sociedad makes it paramount for United not to lose ground. United was the more dominant team but dominance is useless if not taken advantage of. David Moyes will has to ensure that United improves – vastly – on their finishing in order to avoid putting more pressure on himself since taking over the hot seat from Sir Alex Ferguson.

The point earned is still important, it allows Manchester United to sit on top of Group A by one point from Bayer Leverkusen. As it had been this season United under David Moyes is doing reasonably well in cup competition and the next match against Leverkusen away is one David Moyes need to make sure United turn out – as winner.
