Transfer News/Updates: 26 August Updates

Yohan Cabaye went on strike after Arsene Wenger lodged a bid…while Jose Mourinho did the dirty tactics over Spurs and Manchester United. Gareth Bale set to be unveil as Real Madrid player and David Moyes warns that there may not be any new signings heading to Old Trafford this transfer.
With another higher bid coming from Arsenal, Yohan Cabaye has gone on strike with the hope of making the move to Emirates. Arsenal, lodging a higher bid as the transfer window is closing down, is starting their desperation signing campaign, with possibly a move for Juan Matta who most likely be affected by the arrival of Willian.

Despite Jose Mourinho insistent that it is unethical to make bid for rival team’s player before head-on meeting, he continues to play the mind games to the limit. Mourinho continues to make sporadic statements with the intention of unsettling Wayne Rooney and Manchester United ahead of the showdown at Old Trafford (insisting that United should not try to keep an unhappy Rooney). Aside from that, not content to just hijacking Tottenham Hotspurs move for Willian, Mourinho has also set his sight on Willian former teammates – Samuel Eto, with the possibilities of a double swoop with Anzhi Maklachkala (Eto had been linked with Arsenal and Manchester Unbited too). Samuel Eto swoop may be understandable given Mourinho chase for Wayne Rooney but a move for Willian is puzzling as Chelsea has in their team so many players in that position. Hence the link between Juan Matta and Arsenal is understandable. The link between Matta and Old Trafford is more far-fetched unless the Wayne Rooney deal comes to life.

At Old Trafford David Moyes has warned that there may not be any new signings, at least in the current transfer windows. While Moyes has insisted all along that the club is working hard behind the scene to secure signings, signs are that Manchester United may not be willing to force a signing unless it is deemed urgently necessary. Moyes has inherited a title winning squad from Sir Alex Ferguson, the players had so far shown enough hungers to win and has the right mentality. Apart from the retirement of Paul Scholes, the rest of the squad remains the same with youngsters like Adnan Januzaj, Jesse Lingard and Wilfred Zaha showing a lot of potential. Players like Nani and Anderson meanwhile are showing signs of not seeking a move elseway. The current squad according to Moyes is as good – without the addition. Perhaps the man is quietly confident – a good sign for the supporters.

And finally Gareth Bale is set to leave Spurs for Real Madrid in a world record move (in the region of £85 + million) and put to rest all speculation of him being David Moyes marquee signing.
