Always
the talking point for all of Manchester United’s fans everywhere – who is going
to be David Moyes starting XI? After 26 years of Sir Alex Ferguson, most United
fans – despite Ferguson’s constant rotation – can almost knows the way Ferguson
picked his team. But since Moyes took over – an unconvincing one so far – his
team selection still leaves many United fans scratching their heads.Aside
from the usual suspect – David De Gea, Patrice Evra, either Rio Ferdinand or
Nemanja Vidic partnering the trio of Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Jonny Evans
in central defense, Michael Carrick in central midfield and Wayne Rooney-Robin
Van Persie up front – there are several positions in which David Moyes is not
sure of. The rightback position should see Rafael da Silva competing with the
likes of his twin brother Fabio and either of Smalling or Jones. But the
decision after the strikers, Carrick and the back four will be the one that
causes question marks over Moyes’ team selection so far this season. There will
be the two flanks as well as a central midfielder position in which Moyes seems
uncertain on who to pick. His choices would make most midtable or cash strap
teams beaming with envy – imagine being able to choose from the likes of Nani,
Shinji Kagawa, Ryan Giggs, Danny Welbeck, Tom Cleverly, Anderson, Marouane Fellaini, Ashley
Young, Antonio Valencia, Wilfred Zaha and of course the highly rated Adnan
Januzaj – all these for three positions!
The
condition of players coming back from internationals will be a major
consideration for David Moyes in selecting his team. And bearing in mind that
after the recently concluded international breaks, the schedule will be full
throttle – at least two games per week scenario. As such Moyes’ credibility
will be in spotlight again as he goes about using his squad the best possible
way.
