The
latest news reported that the Gareth Bale transfer saga is nearing its
completion. And Jose Mourinho is preparing another bid for wantaway Manchester United’s striker Wayne Rooney – but not before the showdown between United and
Chelsea on the 26th August.
The Gareth Bale transfer saga seems highly likely to come to a conclusion with Dailymail reporting a possible world record fees in the region of more than £90 million, with Fabio Coentrao heading to White Hart Lane. This deal will permanently shut down any possibility of some reported news of Bale heading to Old Trafford instead, given Real Madrid’s stance on Bale’s valuation. However it may signal another possibility, however small it maybe – Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure – back to his ‘beloved’ Manchester United.

Meanwhile
Jose Mourinho conceded that his ‘Plan A’ (of bringing in Wayne Rooney) may not
materialize, given Manchester United’s refusal to sell Rooney to a direct
league rival. Despite the speculated third bid from Chelsea, all Mourinho is
probably trying to do is to unsettle David Moyes, as part of his mind games
ahead of the showdown on the 26 of August, knowing full well of United stance
on Rooney. He further admitted that there are ‘Plan B and Plan C’ should ‘Plan
A’ does not materialize, after spending most summer indicating that Wayne
Rooney is his primary target. With no offers from abroad coming for Rooney, it
may seem the ‘sulking one’ will continue to sulk.
Elsewhere, David
Moyes had been given another setback with the Luka Modric links. It reported
that Modric may stay after all given Xabi Alonso will be out for three months
due to injury. Alonso has been the key midfield player for Real Madrid the past
few seasons, overshadowing Modric’s when comes to midfield selection. With
Alonso out for up to three months it would be hard to imagine Carlo Ancelotti
willing to let another midfielder to leave.
