Both
sides are hurting, Arsenal was comprehensively dumped by Manchester United
fourth place Champions League spot rival – Liverpool (how times changed,
fighting those mid-table fellows from Anfield – for fourth spot!!). As for
United, the same old story (David Moyes’ era) continues – to a point where
newcomers to the games would think that Manchester United is a mid-table team,
period.Arsenal
is on a different scale right know, yes massive thumping by Manchester City and
Liverpool will always be a stark reminder how the Gunners is still not the
Manchester United under Sir Alex Ferguson. Yet they have been sitting on top of
the Premier League for a while and only a few catchable points behind Chelsea
and City. And on top of that playing at home represent totally different
mindsets compare to David Moyes’ men playing at Old Trafford.
With
the season in almost disarray, David Moyes should try to make changes. If he
cannot get the best out of this group of players (who won the Premier League in
April by 11 points) then Moyes must as well try drastic changes – in his own
words ‘throw the kitchen sink in’, by throwing ‘other equipments in as well’. Most
notably for Moyes would be his tactics. A game this magnitude and at the same
time a loss cause for Manchester United would be perfect for Moyes to tinker
with the team – tactic wise. These days every star players (almost) wants to be
a No 10. For Moyes he has Wayne Ronney, then Shinji Kagawa and now Juan Mata. Adding
to that youngster like Adnan Januzaj wanted that role too in the future. Moyes
can really do a ‘Chelsea’-like formation with players like Mata, Kagawa and
Rooney providing massive array of creativity plays behind a striker.
A
change of tactic could surprise opponents who have been expecting the same old Manchester
United formation (but an ineffective one). There are no better times than now
and the sooner David Moyes gets Manchester United firing the sooner he eases
the pressures on him – no matter how the style of play.
