Never
mind Luiz Suarez and Wayne Rooney – for now. By now anyone or everyone who
reads and follows the transfer news knows – Gareth Bale will be the transfer
story for this summer. It is not only the mega sum in excess of £85 million that
grabs headlines…It
is also the fact that Gareth Bale valuation is highly inflated. Granted he is an
exciting talent, a player that makes even non-Tottenham Hotspurs’ fans sit up
and watch the replay of his goals (over and over). But for Real Madrid to break
their bank accounts and their existing transfer records to land Bale speaks more
on the desperation of one man – Fiorentino Perez. A man bends on proving
himself to the world how good he is – at landing his target, regardless of the
practicality of the transfer, or whether his bid has an adverse negative
outcome on the transfer market. And this even at the prospect of losing their
star player – Cristiano Ronaldo? Would Ronaldo likes to play second fiddle in
the record stakes? As well as that remembering the facts that when Real Madrid
signed Ronaldo from Manchester United for £80 million, he was already a proven
player, having won numerous titles with Manchester United and for himself.
The
chains of event that follows the Gareth Bale transfer are also rather
hypocritical for the parties involved, with Andre-Villas Boas slamming Carlo
Ancelotti over Real Madrid’s tactic of unsettling Gareth Bale and Tottenham
Hotspurs threatening fine if Bale fails to show up for training. Likewise Real
Madrid uses their players to make ‘intentional’ statements to further unsettle
Bale.
It
seems that Daniel Levy and Tottenham Hotspurs does not believe their luck with
the kind of valuation on Gareth Bale. Now that they know it is possible they
wanted more – why not, seems that Bale himself wanted out and it is pointless
to keeping an unhappy player and allow the morale of the dressing room to be
affected. Being a known tough negotiator, Daniel Levy is sure to make this
transfer a long drawn out saga – right until the deadline. As it is now Real
Madrid plans of installment payments instead of straight cash already does not
goes well for the negotiations.
One thing is almost
certain given the events of the last few days, Gareth Bale would not likely end
up at Old Trafford.
